Public sector environmental reporting

Section 516A of the EPBC Act

Under Section 516A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, Australian Government organisations are required to include information about their environmental performance and contribution to ecologically sustainable development in their annual reports.

National Environment Protection Measures (NEPMs)

Some Australian Government organisations are also required to report against NEPMs. NEPMs are designed to ensure consistency of environmental regulations across jurisdictions. They are also aimed at ensuring Australians enjoy the benefit of equivalent protection from air, water and soil pollution and from noise, wherever they live. More about NEPM reporting

Energy Efficiency in Government Operations (EEGO)

Energy Efficiency in Government Operations aims to improve energy efficiency, and consequently reduce the whole of life cost and environmental impact of Government operations, and by so doing, lead the community by example.
