Declaration of Intent with the Government of the People's Republic of China
A Declaration of Intent between the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia and the Government of the People's Republic of China was signed by the then Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and the Minister for the State Environmental Protection Administration of the People's Republic of China (SEPA) on 22 March 2007.
The Declaration of Intent provides for a bilateral relationship regarding water scarcity. This complements the Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese Ministry of Water Resources on water management.
The Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts held bilateral discussions with a SEPA delegation on 7 November 2007 in Canberra. At the meeting, officials exchanged views and discussed potential cooperation on protection of waterways, environmental industries and environmental protection technologies.
